🔹 AA Live for instant developmentsTaken to the Health Sciences University Izmir Tepecik Training and Research Hospital Emergency Service, Kaya's heart stopped beating four times there.
Doctors restarted Kaya's heart with shock therapy and took the patient to the anesthesia intensive care unit.
The young patient, who was treated by anesthesiologist Prof. Dr. Aykut Sarıtaş and cardiology specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ersin Çağrı Şimşek, woke up 6 days after the treatment in intensive care with no neurological problems in his brain. A shockable pacemaker was inserted into the patient's heart.
Kaya started to walk and breathe comfortably again and started a new life.
"They gave us a child again"Fatih Kaya told AA that he did not remember the moment his heart stopped and that doctors fought hard to help him regain his health.
Kaya, who described the moment he opened his eyes in intensive care, said, "I said, 'Thank God I'm alive.' At first I didn't understand what happened. I talked to our doctor. Now I have a more comfortable life. Living is a beautiful thing. I realized how beautiful life is. May God never show such a thing to anyone."
Father Erden Kaya also stated that he experienced the greatest sadness of his life when he learned that his son's heart had stopped beating 6 times, and expressed the following:
"Doctors mobilized for my son. They gave us another child, we are experiencing his happiness. While we were in the hospital, they said the first 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours are very important. We were always afraid of losing our child during this process. They said 'Be careful', no one knew the outcome. It was one of the most difficult moments one can experience as a mother and father."
"The heart contraction force was quite low"Prof. Dr. Aykut Sarıtaş stated that when his patients came to the intensive care unit, they were unconscious and their lives were at risk.
Sarıtaş stated that the patient's heart stopping 6 times and having epileptic seizures reduced his chance of survival, and noted the following:
"We immediately applied cooling treatment to our patient to protect his brain function. We provided this treatment by keeping his body cold for about a day and not allowing his fever to rise for the remaining 3 days. We also monitored his brain waves to prevent the development of cerebral edema. We carried out all his vital functions, including heart, lungs and brain, with a respiratory support device. This ensures that the oxygen in the body is sufficient. At the same time, it prevents cerebral edema in brain functions and protects brain functions. What is really important for us is for the patient's brain function to be normal so that he can return to life. Otherwise, we do not want him to be in a vegetative state and in intensive care for a long time. We were very happy that such a young child was discharged from intensive care with his brain functions fully recovered."
Cardiology specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ersin Çağrı Şimşek noted that there was no vascular problem in Kaya's heart and explained that they had installed a shockable pacemaker device to prevent the rhythm disorder from recurring.
Stating that the patient was in very good condition, Şimşek said, "When he arrived, his heart contraction power was quite low. He now has a heart contraction power that is close to normal. The arrhythmia still requires close monitoring."
Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Savaş Yakan also stated that a young patient regained his health with the timely treatments and that they, as a hospital, were pleased with this.
